Recollection
Through the process of documenting strangers, I present moments of self-reflection initiated by the memory of challenging ones learned morals. I gathered six individuals who have no relation to me and allowed them to privately talk to the camera for 30 minutes without interruption. The participants responded to a singular question, which was, “Tell me about a time when you were selfish, even though there were negative consequences or repercussions.” By leaving the individual alone and silencing the audio, the participant could feel comfortable enough to speak about a moment they potentially have regret for or are embarrassed by. The resulting documentation is a glimpse into the singularity of self-reflection and an attempt at mirroring our own personal moments of revolt.
